JG Julian Grijalba
About me

Behind the data, there are always people.

I'm Julian Grijalba, a Data, Analytics, and Generative AI executive. I've spent 20 years leading data transformation in pharma, consumer goods, and consulting across LATAM and EMEA — rigorous on the inside, warm on the outside.

01 — My story

From being amazed by data's impact to leading the transformation.

My curiosity about data started early, and I quickly understood that a well-told number could change an entire conversation — and that most people feared their own data more than they trusted it. That contrast shaped my career.

Today, I lead Roche's Data Insights Network: a matrixed team of 23 people — Business Intelligence, Insight Partnering, and Data Stewardship — across LATAM.
My focus is repositioning the data function: from operational reporting to the strategic partnering that supports the C-suite and General Managers in their decisions.

Over 20 years I've led data transformation across more than 57 countries, integrating hundreds of sources into single sources of truth, and bringing generative and agentic AI into production even in regulated environments — including a multi-agent intelligence system (RAG) deployed across 8 countries over 121 regulatory and market sources.

I believe in warm technology: rigorous on the inside, human on the outside. AI shouldn't intimidate or replace; it should amplify the best in people and give us time back for what truly matters.

— How I see the world
02 — What I believe

Four values that guide how I work.

Clarity over complexity

Complexity well explained empowers; complexity hidden intimidates. I always choose clarity.

People before technology

Even the best data architecture fails if no one trusts it. I design for the people who'll use it.

Learning in public

I share what I learn — wins and mistakes — because knowledge grows when it circulates.

Measurable impact

I don't care about pretty dashboards, only decisions that change. If it doesn't move a real needle, we rethink it.
